General information & notes on software & updates.
For a remote update of a component, proceed as follows:
  1. On Fronius Solar.web, go to "Settings" --> "Components"
  2. Select the check box on the same line as the component you want to update
  3. Click the red "Update" button and confirm the pop-up message with “OK” to start the update
  4. After the update, the installed version appears on the component page.

Note: Do not disconnect the power supply during the update process

For a local update of a GEN24, proceed as follows:

  1. Download the required firmware file.
  2. Open the user interface of the inverter (see "Accessing the user interface of the inverter via WLAN" or "Accessing the user interface of the inverter via Ethernet").
  3. On the inverter's user interface, go to "System" --> "Update".
  4. To start the update, click "Browse file" and select the downloaded .swu file or drag and drop the .swu file to the "Drag & Drop file here" section.

Note: Do not disconnect the power supply during the update process!

A USB firmware update is possible on the following Fronius inverters:

  • Fronius Galvo
  • Fronius Symo
  • Fronius Primo
  • Fronius Eco
  • Fronius IG TL
 

For a USB update, proceed as follows:

  1. Download the required firmware file.
  2. Copy the froXXXXX.upd file onto an empty USB flash drive. The flash drive must be formatted with FAT32.
  3. Connect the flash drive to the USB port of the inverter.Note: Remove the lower, grey cover of the inverter.
  4. Start the update via the inverter display under "Setup" --> "USB" --> "Software Update".
  5. The currently installed firmware version and the new firmware version of the inverter will appear. Press Enter (far right key) again to start the firmware update.

Note: Do not remove the USB stick or disconnect the power supply during the update process! 

  1. Download the required firmware file
  2. Open the downloaded file by right-clicking it and selecting "Run as administrator". A window opens with the note "ftp-server is running.".
  3. Access the user interface of the Datamanager via Ethernet (see "Accessing the user interface of the SnapINverter via Ethernet").
  4. Disable the firewall and anti-virus software of your PC / laptop.
  5. On the SnapINverters (Datamanager) user interface, go to "Firmware update" and select "Update via LAN".
  6. Click on "Run update" and confirm the process.

Note: Do not remove the Ethernet connection or disconnect the power supply during the update process!

If a Solar.web remote update of a Data- or Hybridmanager fails several times, you can also start the update on the local user interface of the device:

  1. Access the user interface of the device (see: "Accessing the user interface of the SnapINverter via WLAN" or "Accessing the user interface of the SnapINverter via Ethernet").
  2. Go to "Firmware update" and select "Update via Web".The SnapINverter (Data-/Hybridmanager) must have an active Internet connection (see: "Setting up the Internet connection of the inverter (e.g. after replacing the router)".
  3. Click "Run update" and confirm the process.
